LATEST NEWS: updated 02-10-08

Kings Lynn September 27th
Heat 1 Whites & Yellows Race
Started at the back of the grid almost, and due to a first bend incident ended up in the tyres, once moving again I had a clear track in front to enable me to get into a rhythm and pick off the cars one by one, At the point of the stoppage I was in fifth place moving up to 3rd at the chequered.
Heat 3 was a good race with a 10th place finish
Final I retired due to stoppages while in 13th place, as the car was overheating.
Grand National Just missed out on the points with an 11th Place.

A good nights racing with 2 cars on the podium for P&L Industrial Equipment who are my own and Joff Gibsons Sponsors

Northampton 21st September
We travelled through the night and repaired the damage we got at Ipswich at the track on Sunday morning.
In Heat 1 the car was on the pace until a coming together with 141 challenging for the lead resulted in a brush with the wall, end result 13th
Consolation , DNF due to spinning and the car not restarting after an incident.

Ipswich 20th September
First thing its a long way from Manchester and after checking out the track it had become apparent that we had made the wrong choice of gears so a gear change was needed
I was in Heat 2 and made a storming start, and at one point running second but due to having set the brake bias incorrectly causing the wheel to lock up in turn rubbing off the isf tyre (down to the canvas!)
Race result was a 4th which on the whole was a very good result for the car on Tarmac.
A new tyre was fitted for the Final but due to driver error I hit the parked car in turn 3/4 and on the restart I was at the back of the grid hoping for a few to drop out to maybe rescue a 10th place but to no avail.

Big thanks to everyone who helped out, Steve

Happy Birthday to Big Ken (Twiggy) on Wednesday

Barford 7th September
This was the Ministox National Championship, Rob and Sam were starting on the 5th and 6th Rows
After a hectic week rebuilding 2 engines, the cars performed ok in practice.
On route to the parade lap Sams car developed clutch problems and frantic efforts were made to get him on the track.

Rob was coming up the grid nicely up to 2nd at one point until oil on the track made very tricky conditions losing him some places, he finished a very respectable 5th, Sam didnt finish due to the aforementioned clutch problem.

Heat 2 Saw Rob take the Win!
and Heat 3 saw Sam come home a very well driven 2nd!

The Final both came home in 5th and 6th
A very good days racing

Thanks to all the team, And also Woody for his assistance

Sheffield 31st August
F1 136 was called in as a reserve in the Consolation Race for the World Final, starting from near the back we were just making up numbers really and getting track time.
Heat 2 and the weather was starting to change, there were lots of drivers DNF in this race and we placed 8th and last despite being 3 laps down, points and prize money at least..
The Final was run in mud bath conditions, it was like a swamp out there, there wasnt a racing line but a racing lake of shale soup, it was a case of just trying to keep going in the right direction, again we were the last finisher at 8th place and 2 laps down, a few more points and and a couple of pounds richer.
The Grand National was cancelled.

Belle Vue 25th August
Heat 1 finished 7th although the car wasnt handling very well, 3hrs later the Final took place and after a trip to the fence courtesy of 158 (for reasons only known to him) finished 13th with a buckled wheel.
The Grand National we had a problem with a broken Half shaft and limped home 14th, perhaps the damage to the wheel had also caused the halfshaft problem which wasnt evident until the race started.

Next Action at Sheffield - if the bus Passes its MOT!

Buxton 10th August
Practice was in the wet and the car seemed good. By the time the racing started it was dry and again the car was performing well until a misfire in the later stages.
Heat 2 and again the car performing well until mechanical failure of a suspension component meant an early end to the race.
Final, finished 7th but docked 2 places for jumping the re-start
Grand National finished 7th. Not a bad days racing for a shale car on Tarmac.

Sam was unsure whether to race or not on Sunday due to injuries on Saturday at the last minute he decided to give it a go starting from the back of the grid.
He came home in 7th place
Heat 2 came home 7th place
The Final was the Buxton Gold Cup race and Sam came home in??? 7th place
The Allcomers was an improvement with a 6th place, in total 21 points on the day.

Northampton 9th August
We went early to try out some alterations on my car and to set up Sams car due to it having a suspension makeover and with a very wet and greasy track it ended up with Sam having a trip to the wall and then to A&E (purely precautionary) Sam did not race at NIR.
By the time we got back from A&E Heat 1 F1 had just finished and I went out in Heat 2 and I finished but out of the top 10.
The Final was a different story, I took the lead on lap 2 and stayed there until being passed by 172 on the restart with 6 to go I was in 5th but finished 9th.
The Grand National I finished a very respectable 7th.
A big thanks to all the team and the St Johns at NIR who did a superb job when Sam was injured.

John Walker
It is with sadness that we hear of the death this week of John Walker #70 after an illness, all of us at the Jacklin Racing team offer our wishes and thoughts to his family.
John was a fab fella who always had time for a chat and a laugh, back in the year 2000 John invited Andy to his home and to his private track to try the stockcar out, please have a look at the pics below which have been in our archive for quite some time.

Coventry 2nd August
Heat 2 saw me take an early lead and holding onto it for a long time [until about 3 laps to go] until a challenge from 185 which resulted in dropping down to 2nd for a couple of laps, SSJ battled to try to take 2nd only managing it on the last lap.
After a brush with the fence on the back straight I finished 5th.
The Final was a different story getting caught up in a pile up on turn 1 and recieving some damage. Load up and head off home.

Kings Lynn 26th July
A very hot day and a very well watered track saw us score a 5th in Heat 1 - Special thanks to Derek for not taking John Lunds Car to the scales for weighing after Johns win!
In the final a puncture forced early retirement.

Get Well Soon from all at the 136 team to Mark Peters.

Northampton [Euro Weekend]
We had a good weekend but unfortunatly missed out on the placings on saturday and then the diff bearing failed in the Grand National (Time for BBQ And Beer)
Sunday Heat 1 saw us recieve damage in a first corner pile up which was quickly repaired and a 10th in the consolation. in the Final a Halfshaft broke forcing retirement.

Skegness 14th & 15th June Ministox.
Well off we went to Skeggy not knowing what this engine of Robs would do (having filled the garage with smoke on friday)
Surprisingly the smoke cleared and Rob recorded 5th in 1st Heat, 7th in 2nd Heat, & 6th in Final on Saturday.
Sam Finished 10th in one of his Heats and was battling really hard for 3rd in the Final when he spun and was hit in the side which brought out the yellow flags and some medical attention for Sam (sore on sunday)
Sunday was the hosting of the Whites and Yellows race. Sam had recovered from Saturday's shunt and was flying and finished 3rd to recieve a podium and a ride round on the victory truck even though he got tangled with a car that 402 spun in front of him.
This had Sam motivated for the day and 2x 8th places recorded in the Heats
Robert was driving the nuts of this spare engine and scored in the Heats 5th, 9th, and 6th in the Final.

With this string of good results it may see the roof paint coming out for next month watch this space

Thanks to Ian for the extra time for engine building due to Andy being ill
Steve

Coventry - Peter Falding Testimonial
Formula 1
We were due to be in Heats 2 & 4, During Heat 2 I was taken out and the car beached on the infield kerb and could go no further. On returning to the pits it was discovered that we had some damage to the engine and no further part could be taken in saturdays meeting. Despite efforts to repair for sunday all efforts were in vain.

Minis
Both Rob & Sam drove well gaining minor places on saturday
Sunday Rob came 2nd in his first Heat but unfortunatly snapped the crank shaft and destroyed the engine in Heat 2

Sam got 2 x 8ths and a 7th and picked up the grade award.

We have built a new engine this week to use in Robs car at Skeggy this weekend

The first pic shows the new metal we had put in to rebuild the car forward of the rollcage after the crash we had at an earlier Coventry meeting

Buxton 18th May
We made a last minute decision to go and race at Buxton, as the car was still in shale set up we didnt accrue much in the way of places, but its taking part that counts!! We didnt get any damage worth mentioning and we finished each race we were in, here are some pics thanks to www.buxtonracepix.com :

Sheffield 5th May
Heat 1 at Sheffield saw Robert disqualified for outside assistance and then Sam got hurt after avoiding the carnage on the home straight (he is ok now )
Heat 2 Rob finished 5th but was docked 2 places for a Jump start on the restart
Final & Rob drove a good race fnnishing 5th but promoted to 4th.
Good effort all round

Belle Vue 5th May
Whilst I was at Sheffield with the Boys, Ray, Mike & BIG KEN were finishing off the F1 car, we collected this and dropped off the Minis en route to Belle Vue
Heat 2 I was a bit unsure of the car as it had not been on the scales, a 9th place finish after being spun out was OK.
Heat 3 and I managed an 8th place finish after a hard Battle
Grand National 5th place finish

Belle Vue 13th April
Both Rob & Sam had a Good meeting with both cars performing very well.
Heat 1 saw Sam driving very determined only to end up beached on the marker tyres after avoiding some home straight carnage
Heat 2 Both battled very hard for there positions and came home 4th for Sam and 6th Robert respectively.
Final again both battled for track position with a series of yellow flags eroding away any advantage gained in the early laps Rob finished 7th but Sam was not placed in top 10

A Good effort from Both

Sheffield 30th March
On the whole not a bad days racing until the Grand National, The car was on the pace and handling very well.

Heat one dropped down the placings with a small tangle early on in the race, but finished in 8th.
Heat two again tangled early on and fought back to finish 10th

The Final, after a trip to the fence the car didnt seem to be right so I retired to the middle.

Grand National, the car running well until the end when caught by the leaders - A piece of fence pie was had and a bit of damage recieved!!

As true to form the results dont reflect the effort of the car & Driver and also the crew.

Belle Vue 24th March
With the new look car out on track, it was the start of another season starting with our home track Belle Vue

Results were consistantly good, in Heat 3 the car recieved a bent rear wheel and hub, meaning that our race was over

Heat 1: 9th
Heat 2: 7th
Heat 3: DNF
Final: 10th
GN: 8th
